Letter Square
Letter Square is an online clone of Boggle.
Basically, you have to find as many words as possible in a grid before the end of the 3 minutes timer. The words must follow a path of letters inside a grid, and longer words give you more points. You play at the same time as other players, and at the end of the 3 minutes, a ranking is displayed. You can also chat with the other players and see all the words that you didn’t find, before the next game starts.
The game was hosted at https://lettersquare.gigalixirapp.com, but has been shut down after a few months since it was not really used. The source code is available, and anyone is free to modify it and redeploy the game elsewhere.
This project was done in February 2021 in about 3 weeks, in order to learn the incredible Phoenix LiveView and Surface. Phoenix LiveView is an Elixir framework made for building real-time interactive web-apps. Surface is built on top of it and makes its usage even more comfortable. I wrote a post mortem to talk about my experience.
